The apartment has a superb beachside location, with the sea only a stones throw away. The apartment overlooks the idyllic Church Bay and the moorings of the local fishing boats and yachts. With its stunning views over the Dovey Estuary and the Plynlimon mountain range beyond, this apartment is the ideal location to sit and watch the world go by whatever the weather. There is also miles of sandy beaches are only a minute walk away, with all local amenities within easy reach.

The apartment has been modernised to a very high standard and comprises of one double and one twin bedroom, with two separate shower rooms, an open plan kitchen diner, rear decked area which is accessed from the kitchen, the apartment is also has central heating.

All bedding, towels, heating and a car pass are included. There is also a 10% discount available in George and Anna’s restaurant below the apartment.

The apartment is named after The Bear of Amsterdam, a 120 ton Spanish galleon that had escaped Drake’s fleet. The Bear of Amsterdam had staggered up the North sea and around Scotland through the Irish sea, and found safety anchored mid-river in front of where the apartment is now located. The militia of Merionethshire and Cardiganshire assembled and waited for the opportunity to take or destroy the Spanish vessel. There were no boats available and certainly no cannons to hole her. So there she swung at anchor with the forces of two countries helplessly standing by, unable to do more than fire the odd musket shot.
With the prevailing winds on this coast being Westerly it was difficult for the galleon to leave the estuary, but after several days of waiting and watching the winds changed and the Spanish ship was able to sail away over the bar and into open sea, where one of Drake’s ships was waiting to pounce and capture her.
